Tommy Cowan (Class of ’63) and Cari Clark (MAC Parent Alum) have been named as co-chairs for the 2013-2014 60th Anniversary Events Committee.
Tommy Cowan, FAIA, retired from Graeber Simmons & Cowan in 2009, where he was a founding principal and managing partner of the 50-person Austin architecture firm. Previously, he worked for 3D International and Brooks Barr Graeber & White.
Mr. Cowan has fundraised for the UT Longhorn Alumni Band, AISD student programs, multiple scholarship endowments, as well as numerous other civic organizations. His passion is supporting the architecture profession, the arts, and education. He is a long time member of the Austin Downtown Founder Lions Club and a proud MAC alumni, class of ’63.
Mr. Cowan is a native born Austinite, and together with his wife Ann (also a MAC Alum), has two children and four grandchildren.
As a graduate of the University of Texas and a successful real estate agent and businesswoman, Cari Clark has always been quick to give back to the community, especially in the areas of art and public education.
Ms. Clark is serving or has served as a member of the Kennedy Center’s Any Given Child Initiative-Austin, the Austin Independent School District’s Community Bond Oversight Committee and the Austin Creative Classroom Fund, a programs that seek to expand the role of art in Austin’s public school system. In the past, she was also the Chair of the Friends of McCallum Fine Arts Academy.
